		AMLCD screen sizes continue to increase to meet medical industry requirements, and the cost of these monitors continues to drop as economies of scale are reached through the rapid growth of commercial desktop flat-panel monitor usage.
		AMLCD technology is advancing to support larger screen sizes ranging from 15 to 21 in., and flat-panel displays provide more viewing area per dollar than a comparable CRT.
		AMLCDs offer a wide viewing angle (160°) and at-a-glance readability (300:1 contrast ratio), which is crucial in critical-care applications, where decreasing the time required to read, interpret, and act on information can save lives.

		AMLCD's continue to improve in performance and cost as the consumer applications like TV drive high volumes.
		Any display temperature limitation is typically due to the interconnects to the panel or the power supply electronics where AE caps give up (ESR goes to crap when they freeze) and need to be enhanced with ceramics or circuits need to spiffed up to handle higher ripple voltages.
		At the high temp end, EL has no issues like AMLCD clearing point that prevents the display from functioning under sunlight loading or simply high temperatures in an enclosure that is not cooled in outdoor or industrial situations.

		Matsushita reportedly builds the AMLCD displays for the initial AT&T videophones, but it wasn't known if Matsushita is talking with AT&T about the projected new U.S. plant.
		DEC, another member of the Xerox group, reportedly is mainly interested in the AMLCD development work expected to be done in the projected DARPA-funded effort.

		AT&T is expected to announce plans shortly to build its own AMLCD production plant in the U.S. (EN, Aug. 24, 1992), and Motorola is joining with In-Focus to build a plant making full-color passive LCD panels.
		Wilson said OIS was not directly involved in any of the appeals, although the Advanced Display Manufacturers Association, of which OIS is still a member, is fighting petitions by U.S. computer firms and the Japanese suppliers to bar the penalty duties.
