PCWorld.com - AOpen Shows Intel's Answer to the Mac Mini
AOpen is showing off at the Computex trade show in Taipei a small desktop PC that closely resembles Apple Computer's Mac Mini except for the use of Microsoft's Windows operating system and Intel's Pentium M processor.
The AOpen product, which is modeled on its XC Cube product line and is being shown at Intel's booth, is part of a larger effort backed by Intel to promote the use of the Pentium M processor in small PCs designed for living rooms and entertainment centers, an Intel spokesperson says.
AOpen's existing XC Cube PCs are larger than the Mac Mini, but the company has been working on shrinking its Pentium M-based motherboards to enable smaller and smaller cube-sized PCs, AOpen executives said earlier this month.

Review of the AOpen MX64 mainboard   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
AOpen, a prominent manufacturer of computer equipment, rarely misses a chance to distinguish itself.
This is the case with the AOpen MX64 motherboard, which employs the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset, recently released by VIA.
I would guess that there is some good logic behind this choice but I would tend to believe that the inclusion of one or two ISA slots, or at least an additional PCI slot, would have been a much better choice.

 PCWorld.com - AOpen's Even Smaller Pentium M-Based Desktop Cube
With the latest generation of Pentium 4 desktop processors from Intel capable of consuming up to 115 watts of power during peak operation, sophisticated and often noisy cooling fans are needed to prevent the inside of the PC from melting into an expensive pile of sludge.

Review: AOpen H600A midi-tower PC case
Pick them up, though, and the difference is obvious enough; the AOpen is the weight you expect an empty computer case to be (9.1 kilograms, or 20 pounds, without PSU), while the aluminium Lian Li is 3.2 kilograms lighter.
AOpen wire the H600A USB connectors to a semi-standard connector that you can plug into many motherboards which support extra USB ports, including of course various AOpen boards.
But the AOpen product is less than half the price of the funky aluminium pretty-boy, and it doesn't have a silver and/or fl front panel that looks crummy with ordinary beige drives installed in it.

Overclocker Cafe - AOpen EZ65's new looks and perspective
Several months ago we posted our review of the AOpen XC Cube EZ65 barebones system.
AOpen has since added two more very aesthetically pleasing options; the first is "Yuppie Silver" and the second is "Sporty Black." Today I want to take an opportunity to show you what these two new EZ65 case designs look like in addition to exploring what we were unable to do in our original review.
I feel this really needs to be revisited because we recently discovered that the original EZ65 we tested could bang right at 275MHz (though not stable.) With this in mind, the AOpen looks like it may have more potential than we originally realized.

AOpen has been manufacturing PC components for almost twenty years now as they were established in Dec 1996 by Simon Lin and with that experience under their belt they have refined the way they make and sell products.
From the first I was interested in what AOpen had up their sleeves and when they contacted us for a review I was game from the onset especially since they claimed it had an abundance of features not found on many other boards.
What separates an Editors choice board from another board of the same genre are the features and AOpen threw in as much gizmo and gadgetry as could be possible on an Intel 865PE chipset board without reinventing the wheel, making it a very solid and well rounded motherboard for the consumer.

AOpen Prima Power AO700-12ALN 700W Power Supply Review - PCStats.com
The AOpen Prima Power AO700-12ALN is a standard ATX sized PSU, and not noticeably heavier than an equivalent PSU in the 350W-500W range either.
According to AOpen as the temperature inside the PSU rises, the Prima Power AO700-12ALN's maximum power output is lowered by 3W per degree Celsius and the PSU has a maximum internal temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.
That means the AOpen PSU does not have the 115/230V switch on the back and will work anywhere in the world right out of the box.

Aopen ships Mac mini clone | TG Daily   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
We would not go as far as describing Aopen's miniPC as evidence for the firm's "strong RandD capability" and demonstration of the company's "leading product development expertise." After all, we are talking about a device that hardly can be described as innovative, as it takes virtually all design clues from Apple's Mac mini.
Aopen's pricing, however, is more a general guidance and it remains to be seen, if and how many such devices will be available on the market.
According to the company, the computer will be available in the United States via Aopen's partners in "early November." To our knowledge, performance PC maker VoodooPC is currently the only company that has picked up Aopen's design but, according to the firm's president Rahul Sood, has heavily modified the PC under the hood.
