Daniel sent me his comparison of indirect AJAX programming frameworks for ASP.NET.
A bug in ASP.NET 2.0 (it is not really a bug, it is only not working the same way when cookieless sessions is enabled) requires a change in the web.config file.
The big difference is that they are using ASP.NET in the traditional way, draganddrop web controls on the page, add some event handlers and write two or three lines of code.

 Atlas Project
In ASP.NET 2.0, we have also made it easier to write AJAX-style applications for any browser using asynchronous callbacks, and we use them in several of our built-in controls.
Our goal is to produce a developer preview release on top of ASP.NET 2.0 for the PDC this September, and then have a website where we can keep updating the core bits, publishing samples, and building an active community around it.
When the user start his explorer then explorer check the global library and upload new adds if it is. ASP.NET developers use the global library for their projects and they don't think about is it library in user side or not.

 Write AJAX-style Applications Using the ASP.NET 2.0 Client Callback Manager
Unknown to some, ASP.NET 2.0 includes the Client Callback Manager to allow developers to write AJAX-style Web applications.
The Client Callback Manager uses XMLHTTP behind the scenes to encapsulate the complexities in sending data to and from the servers and clients (hence for it to work, you need a Web browser that supports XMLHTTP; at the moment the Client Callback Manager only works with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
In a nutshell, AJAX allows you to write responsive Web applications that do not need to constantly refresh the page in order to update the information on the page.

Eventhough CORBA is hardly a mainstream anymore it was really nice to realize that the XMLHttpRequest interface in the spec is expressed in a good old IDL.

The ASP.NET team is positioning Atlas as not as "just another AJAX framework", but rather an end-to-end framework for developing rich UI in the web browser.
The presenter walked through a scenerio where a developer was beginning to work on an ASP.NET web application and after getting the code from source control, needed to run a set of build verification tests (BVTs) to make sure everything was set up properly.

One of the demos that got people (especially ones not currently using Microsoft technology) excited at the MIX conference a few weeks ago was a demo that Shanku did showing the Atlas Client-Script Libraries working within a PHP web app.
