ASTM International announces that a 2004 Award of Merit has been given to Robert Dale Thomas, vice president of engineering at the National Concrete Masonry Association in Herndon, Va. The award, ASTM International's highest recognition for individual contributions to standards activities is accompanied by the title of fellow.
ASTM Committee C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units has cited Thomas, a resident of Reston, Va., for his leadership in standards development on the committee.

An ASTM Consensus Standard meeting was held Friday 9/6/02 near Philadelphia, PA at the ASTM headquarters.
Several months after this decision was made, a number of committees were selected to start writing standards for this program; drafts of a number of these standards are now available and are being offered to the membership in anticipation of balloting and adoption over the next year.
