The ASU women's golf team finished the opening round of play at the Pac-10 Championship Monday as the only squad to shoot under par.
That occasion may have come sooner than expected as Jeff Pendergraph -- an all-Pac-10 Freshman Team selection last season -- confirmed he would return to ASU for his sophomore season.

On April 12, 1985, the Phoenix City Council set the goal of a world-wide architectural design competition for a new municipal complex that would attract national and international attention.
The plan proposed a complex for the downtown that would include fire, criminal justice, and municipal buildings covering 214,000 square feet.
The competition saw entries from internationally renowned architects such as Barton Myers, Michael Graves, Arata Isozaki, Ricardo Legorreta, Charles Moore, and Robert Stern.

 Students begin Phoenix rail yards design project - 2003-06-02
The eight students' proposal for the Phoenix rail yards is scheduled for public presentation Friday, June 6, at ASU's Joint Urban Design Studio at the Mercado, at 502 E. Monroe St.
An urban village with residential and commercial elements could be part of the future for the railroad yards on the south edge of downtown Phoenix.
The Phoenix blueprint could resemble the design that is transforming the 60-acre former rail yard in Denver, where work on the mixed-use Riverfront/Commons urban village is under way, said Roger Socha, project manager for Design Workshop's Tempe office.
