A user normally begins using the ASV by visiting the index room of the archives, where there are three categories of finding aids that together are known as the numbered "indici" to the collections.
The stacks of the ASV contain nearly 20 linear kilometers of records dating from about 850 through to the late twentieth century (materials generated after 1922 are closed to research).
Second, because the nature of records in the archives is not always clear from the title, work was done to present some sense of the scope and content of select records series.

There were two recordings on Charles Adler's label SPA (Society for Participating Artists) issued in the 50s with Zeisl's violin and viola sonatas, piano pieces and songs, recorded by Israel Baker (violin), Sven Reher (viola), Yaltah Menuhim (piano), Eda Schlatter (piano), Marilynn Hall (soprano) and Eric Zeisl (piano).
In Spring 1998, ASV Records in London released a cd of music by Zeisl and Franz Reizenstein on its Quicksilva label.
The music was recorded by the Duo Hebraique, Marc Moskovitz, cello and Daniel Shapiro, piano.

His 42 operas are now finally represented by this live recording from 1979 of a comic opera written in Venice in 1766; charming and amusing, ranging from buffo bluster to lyric cantabile and making use of programmatic orchestral effects, this was Traetta's most popular opera.
Dating from 1843 (but recorded here in its 1845 revision), this monumental work is set in the Moroccan desert and in Lisbon in 1578 involving the crusade of the King of Portugal against the Moors; a beautiful Moorish girl who catches the King's eye, the Inquisition and a traitorous Grand Inquisitor provide the dramatic impetus.
