The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (AAR reporting mark ATSF), often abbreviated as Santa Fe, was one of the largest railroads in the United States.
Grand Canyon Railway (1901-1942) — became an operating subsidiary of the ATSF in 1902 and a non-operating subsidiary in 1924
On December 31, 1996 the ATSF merged with the Burlington Northern Railroad to form the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway.

ATSF #1413 is 36'9 1/4" long, 10'4" wide, 15'2" high, weighs 50,000 lbs.(25 tons), and has AB brake gear and 33" wheels.
ATSF #1413 was sold to the California Railroad & Salvage Company in Tustin,CA for scrapping in the 1970s, in very deteriorated condition.
ATSF #1413, which has again been refinished and repainted, is kept well-maintained in operating condition inside the carbarn at Campo to preserve its appearance.

ATSF #74 was retired in 1968, as the U.S.Post Office transferred its mail contracts to airplanes and trucks (the last RPO run was June 30, 1977).
ATSF #74 was sold to Intercontinental Steel for scrap April 9, 1971; then bought for use as a gift shop selling railroad paraphernalia in Houston, TX.
ATSF #74 had its gift shop signs and wires removed, and was painted dark red primer with fl roof in early 1991.

ATSF #205073-MW was donated to the PSRMA on September 27, 1983 and brought to San Diego by Santa Fe.
Moved to the Grossmont siding in La Mesa by the SD&AE, its MW numbers & red paint were removed and SFRD numbers and Santa Fe emblems repainted by museum workers.

The ATSF paint is from the mid 50s.
Proto made a 50' Automobile Box Car with end doors which is not exact for the ATSF FE-29 express box cars, 9700-9749, but would fool all but purists.

Donated in operational condition by the BNSF in 1997, ATSF 98 is used occasionally in demonstration railway service and on special excursions.
Built in 1967, it is also the most modern rail vehicle in the Museum's Permanent Collection.

 Motive Power 1200G LNG locomotive histories
This resulted in the delivery of locomotive UP 1298 and LTP 1299 to the Union Pacific in August of 1994 and ATSF 1200 and ATSF 1201 to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe in December of 1994.
On August 15, 1995, a tractive effort test was conducted by the ATSF on a 2.0% grade at mile post 27.0 on the Lucerne Valley Subdivision with ATSF 1201.
Through December 3,1996, the ATSF 1200 engine had operated 10,610 hours for an average of 14.53 hours for each day in service.
