Wing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The most common use of wings is to fly by deflecting air downwards to produce lift, but upside-down wings are also commonly used as a way to produce downforce and hold objects to the ground (for example racing cars).
A wing is a surface used to produce an aerodynamic force normal to the direction of motion by travelling in air or another gaseous medium, facilitating flight.

The U-shaped RCC sections are attached to the wing "with a series of floating joints to reduce loading on the panels due to wing deflections," according to Boeing data on the attachment mechanism.
The RCC leading-edge structures are bolted to the wing using Inconel fittings that attach to aluminum flanges on the front of the wing.

Drosophila tissue and organ development: Wing
The wing is derived from the wing imaginal disc, formed from the embryonic ectoderm by an invagination at the intersection of a dorsal/ventral stripe of Wingless with an anterior-posterior stripe of Decapentaplegic.
The wing disc comprises three cell layers: the squamous epithelium of the peripodial membrane; the columnar epithelium that becomes the adult epidermis, and the adepithelial layer that includes myoblast cells that give rise to adult thoracic muscles and tracheal cells that form air passages.
Pupal wings from such animals were examined and wings were found that were wider and shorter than normal and regions were found with a loss of hairs.

Wing really hit her stride on this release, with way-out interpretations of Andrew Lloyd Webber hits like "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "Memory." Five other Webber songs are repeated from Wing's debut (I don't know whether they're re-recordings), making me wonder if the original concept was to make a full Webber tribute album.
Wing does her best to disrupt the predictability of the band's pop-disco treacle, doing her rubato, quavering routine to full effect on the title track, and performing startling renovations on "Chiquitita." Unfortunately, there are a lot of numbers she can't do anything to save ("Knowing Me Knowing You"; "Mama Mia").
There are a few tracks where Wing really cuts loose, though, and they're incredible: "So Long, Farewell," with an indescribable coda of prolonged high notes, and "My Favorite Things," which she reinvents every bit as radically as John Coltrane had.
