Dr. Aatos Erkko, one of the key figures in Finland's media business, believes that the office of the Presidency is becoming unnecessary, and that it could be abolished sometime in the future.
Erkko believes that the change could be implemented after the next two Presidential terms have passed.
Aatos Erkko brought out his views in a chapter he wrote in a book commemorating the 60th birthday of Dr. Kari Hokkanen, the editor-in-chief of the provincial newspaper Ilkka.

Aatos Juho Michel Erkko (born 16 September 1932 in Helsinki) is a Finnish journalist and the main owner of SanomaWSOY and its Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.
Erkko has a Master of Sciences degree and he has studied journalism in the Columbia College of Columbia University.
His grandfather Eero Erkko was a Finnish journalist and founder of the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

Communicational skills were included in the school curriculum in 1990, partly influenced by Dr Aatos Erkko, Chairman, Asipex Group.

Even mentioning the Jews, Erkko family or Alma Media in a bad light can get one in a trouble, and in a fllist, which effectively bans you from WSOY and Alma media corporations and thus from a career of a journalist, a writer (to newspapers) or being interviewed in these medias.

Mr Erkko added that Finland's foreign relations were stuck in a rut, not only with the US, but across the board, and that Finland was too fearful of involvement in foreign affairs.

Non-executive director Stanley Shuman, who is overseeing News Corp's attempts to sell the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team via his role as managing director of investment bank Allen & Company, stood down as chairman of the audit committee.
That committee will now be chaired by former Southcorp boss Graham Kraehe with former News Corp executive Andrew Knight and independent directors Aatos Erkko and Thomas Perkins the other members.
Mr Erkko and Mr Perkins will also sit on that committee, highlighting the relative lack of directors who are either serving or have served as executives within the media group.

He is childless and Seppälä's children are said to be his heirs.
