Abalone is a two-player strategy board game which can be quaintly summarized as "sumo wrestling with marbles", as the objective is to push opposing marbles off the edge of the board.
Abalone can be played by three persons (or more) using the same board with fewer marbles each in three different colours.
Abalone was invented in 1987 by Laurent Levi and Michel Lalet.

it's very pleasing aesthetically - the sight, the sound, and the feel of the marbles pushed across the board are all little pleasures in themselves (though i have to note that they were much more so with the original issue of the game, when the board and the marbles were bigger than they are now).

I had been introduced to the board game by a friend and found it fascinating, but I seldom simultaneously find a partner and the time to play, so I have been looking for a computer version.
The game does not offer an undo option--the author specifically excluded this, although it is technically possible (like he says, the computer can't undo your moves either).
The game is neither inherently geeky nor original, but it is a fun game to play when you have a few minutes free.
