Understanding and Collaboratively Treating Parental Alienation Syndrome by Kenneth H. Waldron and David E. Joanis   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
If the child has regular and frequent contact with the target parent, and the target parent does not join the process, that is, the target parent is able to maintain an independent and healthy relationship with the child, the process will most often not take hold.
That is, when with the alienating parent, the child will appear thoroughly rejecting of the target parent, but when with the target parent, he or she will display affection, attachment, interest, fun, and freedom from the oppressive alignment with the alienating parent.
The AP solidifies the relationship with the child by creating an image for the child that he or she is at great risk out of the control and protection of the AP.

THE SPECTRUM OF CHILD ABUSE PRESENTING TO A UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN RIYADH
As child advocates, pediatricians have come to recognize a broad spectrum of abnormal and pathological child-rearing practices, such as the use of inordinate physical violence, unjustifiable verbal abuse, the failure to furnish proper shelter, nourishment, medical treatment or emotional support.
It was noticed that the three-year-old child was also suffering from severe stomatitis, which the mother admitted was due to ingestion of chlorox (a bleaching agent) a week earlier, for which he was treated at another hospital.
As we were arranging the child's admission without the mother, since she refused to stay with the child because she had to look after the other two children, the father arrived.

The child's loving experiences with the target parent in the past are replaced with a new reality, the negative scenario shared by the programming parent and child which justifies their rejection of the alienated parent.
The child has a reasonably healthy relationship with the programming parent and is usually participating in the campaign of denigration to maintain the primary emotional bond with the preferred parent, usually the mother.

 Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome
A perplexing aspect of the syndrome is the ability of the parent or caregiver to fool and manipulate doctors.
Other theories say that Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome is a cry for help on the part of the parent or caregiver, who may be experiencing anxiety or depression or have feelings of inadequacy as a parent or caregiver of a young child.
The child may come to feel that he or she will only be loved when ill and may, therefore, help the parent try to deceive doctors, using self-abuse to avoid being abandoned by his or her mother.

CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT IN SAUDI ARABIA: WHAT ARE WE DOING AND WHERE DO WE STAND?
Although the definition of child abuse and neglect is under debate, a plausible one is an illness or injury stemming from a situation in the enviromental setting which threatens the child’s well-being or survival.
In general, an abused child is defined as one whose parent or other person legally responsible for his or her care inflicts or allows to be inflicted physical injury, sexual offence, or creates or allows substantial risk to the child.
Child abuse and neglect may be viewed as a symptom of a dysfunctional family and is a problem with complex and multivariate origins.

This may seem confusing to understand, but this is how it works: Rooted deep in the unconscious is a desire to make the story turn out right-to find someone who will finally come through and love us the way we want.
There you are, thinking you have just found the love of your life, when a terrible feeling comes over you-"I have been here before," says the voice inside your head, a feeling of dread running through your body.
