  Zencrack ~ Interface to Abaqus
Testing with Abaqus 6.5pr8 (pre-release v8) showed that if these normals are defined AND the virtual crack extensions do not lie in the crack plane at the crack front, the resulting contour integral values may be incorrect.
This issue exists in Abaqus 6.5-1 and is not scheduled for correction in subsequent 6.5 releases.
The default option for extracting contour integral results and nodal displacements from an Abaqus analysis is that the values are taken from the.dat file.

To use Abaqus on the HPCVL Sun Fire's, you have to be covered by an academic Abaqus license outside of HPCVL, i.e.
Note that the Abaqus software running on our Sunfire cluster uses a directory in /tmp (which is local to the nodes on which the software is executing) as scratch space.
The parallel portions of Abaqus are restricted to the solver and operations on the elements.

 ABAQUS tutorial
ABAQUS is a highly sophisticated, general purpose finite element program, designed primarily to model the behavior of solids and structures under externally applied loading.
ABAQUS will generate a vast number of output files, and to keep track of them, it is convenient to keep all the files associated with a particular problem in one directory.
This means that ABAQUS needs to iterate to find the correct solution (a Newton-Raphson iteration is used to solve the nonlinear equilibrium equations), and also means that ABAQUS cannot accurately compute the plastic strain that results from a large change in loads.
