Abarth began this activity in 1963 with a 1300 that subsequently became a 1600 and then a 2000 cc.

Fiat 600 Abarthizzata - Features - European Car Magazine
Though there's a small group of Abarthisti who can tell an Abarth-built TC from an Abarth kit car or Fiat replica, the majority of aficionados respect the fact that these cars were meant to be enjoyed by the many, not the few.
No Abarth kits are available on either side of the pond, and most Abarth engine parts are only available well used at very high prices (remember, these are race motors--they led very active lives).
It's considered a true Abarth conversion (and qualifies for vintage racing in Europe, where these cars are more plentiful), as Abarth was working on its design before he handed the company over to Fiat in 1971.

The styling of the three-door-only Abarth is far sharper than the five-door Stilo's, even after the latter's facelift.
The Stilo Abarth faces some very well established hot hatch rivals, and fitting the smooth-shifting manual box - thus giving keen drivers more control over gearchanges - turns it into a much-improved contender.
It may not be a class leader, but for those looking for something a bit different, it's worth considering.

Esspecially in germany most of the A112 Abarths were modified to an "Abarth-Sport" version, which was developed by the German import company Walter Hagen.
This modification was using Abarth wheels CD 30 (taken from 124 spider) together with a front spoiler and some widening plastic body parts; for this modification the wheel houses had to be cut out.
Most of the A112 Abarths were used from young people to start into motor racing (sometimes of course using just normal streets for their "races"); that caused the lifetime of these cars to be reduced dramatically.

Abarth quickly recognised that all the affordable Italian cars of the time were mundane, and he capitalised on that by developing and marketing affordable accessories and conversions which gave them glamour through extra performance.
Such was the image of the Abarth name and its famous Scorpion badge that Fiat bought the rights to use both after 1971, and hot Fiats are now known as Abarth models.
Records of Abarth production no longer exist - if, indeed, they ever did - and it is now almost impossible to establish how many examples of any particular Abarth were made, or indeed what the original specification of an individual car might have been.
