Abashiri (網走支庁; -shichō) is a subprefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.
On March 5, 2006, the city of Kitami and the towns of Tanno, Rubeshibe, and Tokoro (all from Tokoro District) merged to form the new city of Kitami.
On March 31, 2006, the town of Memanbetsu and the village of Higashimokoto from Abashiri District merged to form the new town of Ozora.
