Abbie Mitchell (25 September 1884 – 16 March 1960) was an American opera singer who created the role of "Clara" in George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess in 1935.
She performed in New York and taught at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.
This film is preserved in the Library of Congress film collection.

Abbie Mitchell from Children's Hospital was on hand today to accept the check on behalf of the world renowned pediatric center.
Carol Belair of New Carlisle, Ohio was the helmet winner.
