The World Reference Laboratory has endorsed the finding of a Pakistani laboratory that the samples were infected with the H5N1, stated an official statement.
The Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry urged poultry farmers to increase bio-security at their farms and immediately report any abnormality to the government veterinarian concerned.
A team, consisting of health professionals from the National Institute of Health and the World Health Organisation, collected blood samples of 18 poultry working at the two affected farms in Abbottabad and Charsadda and reported that they were not infected with bird flu, a senior NIH official said.
