Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, (October 26, 1874 – April 5, 1948) She was matriarch of the Rockefeller family, a socialite and a philanthropist.
She was born Abigail "Abby" Greene Aldrich in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Senator Nelson Wilmarth Aldrich and the former Abby Pearce Truman Chapman.
In the late 1920s, Abby and John Rockefeller were contacted by Reverend Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin who was rector of Bruton Parish Church and an instructor at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Aldrich was a direct descendant of Rhode Island founder, Roger Williams.
Aldrich was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1878 for a single two-year term, after which he was elected to the United States Senate.
His grandson and namesake Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller became one of the most powerful politicians of a later era and served a stint as Vice President of the United States.

Abby Greene Aldrich Rockefeller was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 26, 1874, the fourth child of Abby Pearce Chapman (1845-1917) and Nelson Wilmarth Aldrich (1841-1915).
Nelson Aldrich rose from the position of bookkeeper in a wholesale grocery firm to become a member of the State House of Representatives; he was Speaker of the House from 1876 to 1877.
Although the idea of establishing a museum dedicated to fostering modern art had been floating about since the celebrated Armory Show of 1913, it was not until Abby Rockefeller began to solicit the advice of her own friends during the winter of 1928-1929 that the idea moved toward realization.

     Ethan Allen was a patriot of the American Revolution, leader of the Green Mountain Boys, and champion of statehood for Vermont.
Following rejection by the New York authorities of an appeal that the region be established as a separate province, Allen organized a volunteer militia, called the Green Mountain Boys, to resist and evict proponents of the New York cause.
On orders from the Connecticut legislature, he, the Connecticut soldier Benedict Arnold, and a contingent of the Green Mountain Boys captured Fort Ticonderoga early in the morning of May 10, 1775.
