Abdullah was in Jerusalem to give a eulogy at the funeral and was shot while attending Friday prayers at the Dome of the Rock in the company of his grandson, Prince Hussein.
Abdullah was succeeded by his son Talal; however, since Talal was mentally ill, Talal's son – the aforementioned Prince Hussein – became the effective ruler as King Hussein at the age of seventeen.

King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein (Arabic: عبد الله الثاني بن الحسين) (born January 30, 1962), is the current King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Abdullah is married to a Kuwait-born, Jordan-bred Palestinian, Rania Al-Yassin (now Queen Rania al-Abdullah), who is renowned for her philanthropic work out but has seen her popularity dive within the Kingdom amidst rumours of cronyism and nepotism.
Abdullah's mother, Antoinette Avril Gardiner (commonly referred to as Toni Avril Gardiner), was British by birth, whereas the Jordanian Constitution stipulated that the King should be of an Arab mother and father — hence Abdullah was technically disqualified by the Constitution from taking the throne.

According to the Washington Post [1] "by the terms of the Jordanian constitution Abdullah's ten-year-old son Hussein would automatically inherit the throne" but would not be King until 2012 when he turned 18.
Currently King Abdullah is fulfilling the role as Peacemaker and I hope that is as far as it goes with him.
Abdullah II and Rania have 2 sons and 2 daugthers NOT 3 sons and 1 daugther.
