Near Aberffraw village is the sea-bound church of Saint Cwyfan.
There are public footpaths from Aberffraw itself following the river and through the dunes to the beach, which is one of the cleanest in Wales.

 Aberffraw: The Royal Court
Today Aberffraw is a small sleepy village on the west coast of the Isle of Anglesey separated from the mainland of north Wales by the Mania straits, it is perhaps hard to imagine that here was situated the ancient royal court of the kings of Gwynedd and later of the the medieval princes of Wales.
The Royal estates of the Princes of Aberffraw were governed from the Llys, or the Royal court, and as Aberffraw was the central one, so the palace grew.
It was from it that the officials of the princes court sallied forth to gather taxes and rent from the surrounding commotes.

A 'bun-ingot' or cake of copper was found at Aberffraw on the south-west coast of Anglesey in 1640.
The copper from Anglesey had been instrumental in the development of the British Bronze-Age, and had very likely financed the continued resistance of the Druids against the encroaches of Rome.

This is the first time that we have been caught parking overnight in a place that we should not, and I sadly must say that I expect this to happen more often as summer comes along.
Between Aberffraw and Rhosneigr I passed two interesting structures - the first of which was the Church of Sy Cwyfan, which is situated on a little islet between Porth Cwyfan and Porth China that is linked to the mainland by a causeway that is covered at high tide.
The church was originally built in the seventh century and was rebuilt in 1893.
