Abishalom is the same as Absalom, see 2 Chr.
It is most likely that Abishalom had a second name, Uriel, as having two names is fairly common in the Bible.
Absalom may be the son of David as Josephus claims and Maachah the daughter of Tamar.

The probably genealogy is: Abishalom married Uriel and begat Maachah who married Rehoboam and begat Abijah.
The Abishalom of 1 Kings 15:2 and the Uriel of 2 Chronicles 12:1-2 must have been married to have Maachah.
For some reason it was decided in 2 Chronicles 13:1-2 to state that Uriel was the parent instead of Abishalom (or Absalom).

 Daat Emet
As to your question of how it is possible that Maacah the daughter of Abishalom was the mother of Abijam (In Chronicles his name is Abijah) and also the mother of Asa, his son.
This is the theologians' answer: Maacah the daughter of Abishalom is the grandmother of Asa, and the Scriptures call her his "mother" because the Scriptures sometimes call a grandmother a mother (Radak on I Kings 15:10).
Incidentally, in Chronicles it is written that Abijah's mother was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel: "He reigned three years in Jerusalem; his mother's name was Micaiah daughter of Uriel" (II Chronicles 13:2).

Maachah is also listed in some translations as the daughter of Abishalom, but granddaughter, as in the New King James Version, seems more likely.
She can have only one father, and Abishalom is probably David's son Absalom, who had been killed many decades earlier.
By way of explanation, ancient Hebrew was typically written with consonants only (no vowels), so spelling variations among names are fairly common.

Was it Abishalom (1 Kings 15:2) or was it Uriel (2 Chronicles 13:1-2)?
If the questioner is looking for the maternal grandmother of Abijam, it would seem to be Uriel (2 Chronicles 13:1-2).
This text reveals the maternal grandfather of Abijam, Abishalom (or as he is more commonly called, Absalom).

Notice that in verse 2, Maacah the daughter of Abishalom was the mother of Asa's father, Abijam.
However in verse 10, Maacah the daughter of Abishalom is also listed as Asa's mother.
There is almost no doubt amongst scholars today that Maacah the daughter of Abishalom was Asa's grandmother, and yet in 1 Kings 15:13, Maacah the daughter of Abishalom is called the Queen Mother!
