Aboyne parish in 1841 had a population of 1138; the village itself had a very commodious inn, the Charleston Inn with 42 year old John Birse as the publican.
The people of Aboyne were orderly and industrious, shrewd and intelligent, well informed in the principles of religion and regular in their attendance at church.

There was another query looking for Aboyne in Quebec, near Campbellton, N.B. A person operating a Restigouche web site in Campbellton had informed the person seeking Aboyne that the only one she had ever heard about was in Ontario.
I was able to inform her that the 1873 Lovell's Gazetteer not only reported that there was a place called Aboyne on the north side of the Restigouche River, but gave the names of two individuals living there, one of them being William Windsor.
