Had he released Abracadabra on the Circle Of Love album, he would have had his third megahit album (after Fly Like An Eagle and Book of Dreams).
So in the summer of 1982, he releases Abracadabra: one great song and the rest were totally forgettable.
"Abracadabra" was Steve Miller's last chart hit (and a number one, at that).

SOFT WORKS Abracadabra reviews and MP3
— Soft Works first album, Abracadabra (Moon June), was release in Japan early in 2003 by Universal Japan, while the rest of the world had to wait patiently for several months for its release (Tone Center in UK and USA).
Although the name 'Soft Works' pays a clear homage to their roots together the music on 'Abracadabra' leans much more toward contemporary jazz and rarely reveals any rock roots.
Recorded in London June 2002 largely in single takes, the promised release date was delayed as the band’s perfectionist insisted in doing his overdubs in LA – clearly to the frustration of many.

Steve Miller Band MP3 Downloads - Steve Miller Band Music Downloads - Steve Miller Band Music Videos
Steve Miller was always catchy and tuneful, but he never turned out an unabashed pop album until 1982's Abracadabra.
All of that may not make this one of Miller's definitive albums, especially in the view of hardcore space blues heads, but it's pretty damn irresistible for listeners who find "Abracadabra" one of the highlights of faux-new wave AOR.
This isn't just pop in construction, it's pop in attitude, filled with effervescent melodies and deeply silly lyrics, perhaps none more noteworthy than the immortal couplet "Abra-Abracadabra/I wanna reach out and grab ya." Those...

ABC by then have already moved to another record company, Parlophone, and start working on their sixth studio album Abracadabra.
The album Skyscraping is released in March and the title track is released as a second single of the album.

Amazon.co.uk: Brand New Boots and Panties [a Tribute to Ian Dury]: Music
Another contender for strongest song on the album is Paul McCartney's Partial To Your Abracadabra.
This album is full of surprises - the artists I expected to be poor perform brilliant renditions of songs from the great man's best loved album, and those from whom much was expected are disappointing.
The concept was to re-record Ian Dury And The Blockheads' 1977 smash hit album with the annoying title "New Boots And Panties" with the Blockheads supplying the instrumental talent and a group of guest vocalists replacing the late Ian Dury.

 Official Secrets Act by M
When the tunes are good, and a few are, it all makes for entertaining theater; "Official Secrets" jumbles synths and guitars into the sort of colorful, surprise-filled mix Scott was a master at assembling, and the suave French synth pop of "Abracadabra" is equally appealing.
It was hardly a surprise that the follow-up to M's debut album didn't contain a song as groundbreaking as "Pop Muzik" -- or a tune that was anywhere near as big a hit as his one and only global chart-topper.
Polydor combined Visage's first two (and best) albums, Visage and The Anvil, on one cassette in the early '80s.

ABC (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Heavy on rhyming couplets and tales of unrequited love, the album was a big hit, reaching number one in the UK album charts.
The group then moved to the EMI label, where they recorded the LP Abracadabra, a tightly produced fusion of early 1990s techno sounds and 1970s dance grooves which was met with muted critical approval and appreciation from the band's fan base.
Later that year, the band released their debut album The Lexicon of Love.
