 Isaac Reese
His cousin, Lewis Rees (the father of Dr. Abraham Rees, the encyclopaedist), was also born in Brecon, and both were descended from the clergyman of the Church of England who held the living of Penderyn, in Breconshire; both Lewis Rees and William Reese have the Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in their respective families.
Abraham Rees was his son; he died aged eighty-two years.
Abraham Reese, the third son of William Reese, was the mechanical genius of the family, making miniature models in brass and wood with his own hand of several of his inventions.

He died on 7 April 1836 in London and was buried in the Old St Pancras churchyard.
Educated for the dissenting ministry at the Hoxton Academy (1773—8) under Andrew Kippis and Abraham Rees, Godwin served as a minister only briefly, between 1778 and 1782, at Ware in Hertfordshire and then at Stowmarket, Suffolk, before becoming a full-time writer in London.
There he became part of a group of liberals and nonconformists which included William Blake and Thomas Paine.

Indeed a certain Dr. Abraham Rees, in his Cyclopaedia, is of opinion that Pythagoras himself learned and adopted many of the ideas and beliefs of the Bards, and used them as a basis on which to add some of his own thoughts and discoveries.

Abraham Rees (1743-1825) was born in Llanbrynmair, took a post as mathematics tutor at Hoxton Academy, London, for 22 years and then for a further 40 years preached as a Presbyterian minister, having the distinction of being the last to wear a wig in this latter role.
He revised and edited Chambers' Encyclopaedia for 10 years, and ultimately published his own work, Rees's Cyclopaedia.
They bellowed in misery because they could see but not reach each other, and eventually died of grief.

He married first, soon after 1804, the only daughter of Abraham Rees, D.D., the cyclopaedist, who had been his tutor at Hackney.
His first wife died without issue in 1815, and Jones married secondly, in 1817, Anna, only daughter of George Dyer of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, who, with two children, survived him.
If Thomas rees is right in saying that No.01 above was his first publication, 'The Reason of Man,' andc., Canterbury, 1793, 8vo, 2 parts (against Paine), is by another John Jones.

Blake's commission to engrave seven plates for Rees's encyclopedia was arranged through the neo-classical sculptor John Flaxman who contributed several articles to it.
His decision to use it may have been a calculated choice, intended to signal his disapproval of classical culture which he had come to consider inferior to the 'Living Form' of Gothic art.

The chapel was altered in 1778, rebuilt in 1821, renovated and altered in 1874, 1878 and was again extensively remodelled in 1881, to which date much of the building and its interior belong, with further alterations recorded in 1904.
Many notable ministers have presided here, Dr Abraham Rees, the encyclopaedist, editor of Chamber's Cyclopaedia and founder of Rees's Cyclopaedia was born opposite the chapel in 1743, to the wife of the minister, Rev. Lewis Rees.
Rev Samuel Roberts, the great C19 radical, campaigner, poet and preacher ministered here until 1806, and later shared for a while the ministry with his father, Rev. John Roberts, assuming sole ministry after the latter's death in 1834.
