Along with this, and the fact that Abraham is clearly the pictured as ‘the Father’, I believe that Abraham is a clear picture of God the Father just as his son Isaac is a clear picture of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.” The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.
Just as Abraham never hesitated to sacrifice his son because he reckoned that God could raise Isaac from the dead, so God the Father didn’t waver in His decision to sacrifice His Son because He saw the resurrection and the results that would be won for all mankind.

The image of Abraham going back to his young men (presumably servants or slaves) without Isaac is reinforced by the omission of the previously-used phrase "And the two of them went together"; this explicitly includes both Abraham and his son, but it is missing from the end of the story.
Abraham's central place in the Bible, as the ancestor of the Israelite nation, is thus seemingly bound up in the offering of Isaac as a child sacrifice.

Abraham is given ONE clue that this request is MEANT to be staggering and incomprensible--the presence of the na' particle in the command.

The Story Of Abraham And Isaac
God wished to show Abraham and all his descendants, those who should come after him, that he was not pleased with such offerings as those of living people, killed on the altars.
So God gave to Abraham a command which he did not mean to have obeyed, though this he did not tell to Abraham.
Though this command filled Abraham's heart with pain, yet he would not be as surprised to receive it as a father would in our day; for such offerings were very common among all those people in the land where Abraham lived.

Bible Study - Isaac's Faith And Obedience
Abraham was one of the most faithful people of Bible History; he is even referred to as the "father of the faithful," which has a double, and somewhat ironic, meaning.
A defining test of Abraham's faith and obedience to God also involved a great amount of faith and obedience on the part of Abraham's son Isaac, who willingly and obediently submitted himself as the "lamb" in what would surely have been a fulfilled sacrifice of Isaac.
At the time, Abraham was elderly, and Isaac was a nearing-manhood youth; Isaac could have overpowered his father, or at least outrun him, if he had chosen to resist his own imminent death, but he didn't.
