 Abraham Polonsky
Abraham Polonsky wrote some of the most memorable ending lines in the American cinema.
Polonsky's writing style ranged from the grittily naturalistic (Body and Soul, 1947) to the voluptuously lyrical (Force of Evil, 1948, written by Polonsky and Ira Wolfert, based on Wolfert's novel Tucker's People) and the sparely poetic (Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here, 1969, based on Willie Boy by Harry Lawton).

ABRAHAM POLONSKY: Honey, if they gave me the yellow pages of the telephone book, it would get to be a Polonsky picture.
Polonsky doesn't remember what the project was, which makes it safe to say it was not a personal work that Polonsky brought to Siegel but probably an adaptation of a studio property.

 Andrew Dickos Interview
Abraham Polonsky, because of the moral anguish of his protagonists and his love of New York City (in Force of Evil).
In like manner, but to a different end, I find Polonsky's Force of Evil to be equally great in its moral reckoning and resonance, and how these are represented through an extraordinary use of poetic dialogue, compelling music, and superb camerawork.
But it is consistent with the poetic vision of Dassin here, whose protagonist runs until he can run no more.
