Continuous function - Article from FactBug.org - the fast Wikipedia mirror site
In mathematics, a continuous function is one in which arbitrarily small changes in the input produce arbitrarily small changes in the output.
All polynomials are continuous, and so are the exponential functions, logarithms, square root function and trigonometric functions (on their respective domains).
For example, if a child undergoes continuous growth from 1m to 1.5m between the ages of 2 years and 6 years, then, at some time between 2 years and 6 years of age, the child's height must have been 1.25m.

Absolute continuity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Absolute continuity of measures is reflexive and transitive, but is not antisymmetric, so it is a preorder rather than a partial order.
In other words, a function is locally absolutely continuous if and only if its distributional derivative is a measure that is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure.
The Cantor distribution has a continuous cumulative distribution function, but nonetheless the Cantor distribution is not absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure.

Continuous function - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In mathematics, a continuous function is a function for which, intuitively, small changes in the input result in small changes in the output.
An intuitive though imprecise (and inexact) idea of continuity is given by the common statement that a continuous function is a function whose graph can be drawn without lifting the chalk from the flboard.
In general, sequential continuity is not equivalent to the analogue of Cauchy continuity, which is just called continuity (see continuity (topology) for details).

In the theatre there has to be absolute continuity because the audience has a fixed point of view.
We recognise the immense possibilities of the screen, and yet we are asked to believe that a medium that can transport you to the ends of the earth in the fraction of a second is unable to stand the strain of an altered position of a limb or a chair.
Yet continuity has become such a fetish that the studios insist on a slavish inclusion of every kind of detail irrespective of whether they are significant or not.

Self-identity or continuity is absolute cohesion, the destruction of all difference, of all negation, of being for self; the point, on the contrary, is pure being-for-self, absolute self-distinction and the destruction of all identity and all connection with what is different.
Abstract adherence to the subdivision indicated, that is, to continuous bisection into infinitude, is likewise false, for in the conception of a half, the interruption of continuity is involved.
Continuity is split up into its opposite, a number which is indefinite; that is to say, if continuity is not admitted, there is no motion.

There is nothing contradictory, therefore, in material and immaterial continuities occupying the same space, and in the end the material may have to find their explanation in the immaterial.
The continuities and discontinuities are on the same 'level with the finite individuals involved, not on a transcendental level, whatever that may mean.
The former may have the greater permanency; and in the midst of the vicissitudes and the coming and going of abstract individuals, they may continue their living reality-not merely the outward form-from generation to generation in the nation, the family, the community, the church, etc. Here, too, there is a survival struggle for dominance.

The absolute level is beyond polarities, and hence it cannot be defined, even with the polar term ‘existence’, really, but that is the closest I can get to what I am trying to say about it, and I feel its pretty close, if infinitely far away.
Continuity of existence indeed necessitates by definition continuity (of existence) between all levels of form.
Remember that continuity of form is the relative level (let's call it "homogeneity" or "amorphousness"), so discontinuity of form (inhomogeneity) can at the same time, and indeed MUST, at the same time be founded on a continuity of existence in order to exist and be modified into those inhomogeneities, quantized or whatever.

EconPapers: The Role of Absolute Continuity in "Merging of Opinions" and "Rational Learning"
Abstract: Two agents with different priors watch a sequence unfold over time, updating their priors about the future course of the sequence with each new observation.
Blackwell and Dubins (1962) show that the agents' opinions about the future will converge if their priors over the sequence space are absolutely continuous: i.e., if they agree on what events are possible.
From the existence of continued disagreement we construct a sequence of mutually favorable, uncorrelated "bets." Both agents are sure that they win these bets on average over the long run and this disagreement over what is possible violates absolute continuity.
