Absolution (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Absolution is the third studio album (fourth overall) by English rock band Muse.
Unlike previous albums, the recording and release of Absolution was not subject to constraining schedules, allowing the band to take as much time as they felt necessary to refine and alter their songs.
The album reached #107 in the United States.

Muse Absolution Review @ Serendipity Media      www.serendipity.windwhispers.net
Though Absolution was originally planned to be an uplifting set of songs, watching the war in Iraq play out on television quickly morphed the album into a claustrophobic and angry composition about doubting those in power, fearing you're facing the end times and wondering why no one seems to care as much as you do.
Absolution is Muse's overwrought letter to a generation, hoping to show these baffled souls how to pull off a revolution and clinging to the hope that they don't remain alone in longing to usher in a new era.
A doomsday concept album concerned with igniting a lazy generation into caring enough to get off their butts and at least try to save the world, Absolution almost plays out like Bellamy has been beamed back from the future to warn of the horrors our apathy is about to inflict.

Muse - Absolution : album review
Absolution is, quite simply, the most mind-boggling, grandiose and dare we say it, important, record of the year; the sort of opus that Queen might have made had they been 25 years younger and brought up on Radiohead and Metallica as well as classical music and opera.
If Sing For Absolution was the calm, then Stockholm Syndrome is most certainly the storm - a whirlwind maelstrom of blazing guitar riffs, operatic vocals, classical piano and an incendiary rhythm section, that reads like a Bohemian Rhapsody for the Noughties, albeit a heavy metal one.
Absolution is the sound created by three young men who have imaginations that stretch beyond the boundaries self-imposed by most of us, and, equally amazingly, who have the skill to turn their vision into a musical reality.

 Muse: Absolution (2004): Reviews
A commercial and critical success in the UK upon its release in the fall of 2003, 'Absolution' marks the third album for the English rockers (who frequently draw comparisons to Radiohead--but then again, who doesn't?).
Absolution is an emotional, philosophical, sophisticated, poetic, and beautiful piece of rock music.
'Absolution' is Muse's most accomplished album to date, and kicks their - at the time - excellent debut album 'Showbiz' into the ground.

In what's looking to be their last chance to catch muse in such an intimate venue, a specially invited audience of Xfm listeners packed the Carling Islington Academy on September 22 to see one of the most intense live bands in the country up close and personal.
With Muse's third album, 'Absolution' providing both a substantially expanded audience and a new clutch of ferociously ambitious songs for their live arsenal, this was Muse and crowd together on absolutely top form.
'Absolution's 'Plug In Baby' if ever there was one - an epic, pummelling melody winds through the song like an angry sea snake; to simply call it a riff is an insulting understatement, this clarion call to ruthless, undiluted ambition is effectively built aoruhd an extended guitar solo.

Muse : Absolution - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Though some may still consider them Radiohead mimics, obviously Muse continue to strike a nerve with their alternative hard rock audience, here releasing their third album of heavy guitars, haunted harmonics, and paranoid musings in Absolution.
Frontman Matt Bellamy and company stick to the same disturbed, and sometimes disturbing, formula that's worked in the past: the emotional intensity and style of Radiohead, a rock thunder descended from Black Sabbath, and the baroque drama of Queen.
Many listeners will probably prefer to tackle the album in small doses, and only the most headstrong won't require a breather.

Webster defines the word “muse” as “to think closely, study in silence or meditate.” I wish I was doing either of those instead of listening to the band Muse’s fourth album Absolution - an album full of grunge Euro-rock layered with a blanket of fuzz distoring almost all that is good.
The last song, "Ruled By Secrecy," is by far the album's best, mostly because it is nothing like the rest of the album.
Muse does a good job taking a decent album and distorting it to a bunch of noise with no real direction at all.

Five years ago, when MUSE’s debut album hit shelves in the states, many critics dismissed the band as a RADIOHEAD knockoff after getting one of earful of singer/guitarist/keyboardist MATT BELLAMY’s falsetto.
Those similarities did, and still do exist, but while Radiohead has abandoned rock music entirely for a more ambient, electronic and obscure style, Muse has spent the last five years crafting their intelligent mixture of classical grunge fusion, mixing in singalong arena rock and operatic compositions.
After three albums and a steady progression, Radiohead-clone should be forever stricken from Muse’s legacy.
