Who Are You Abu Mazen?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
In 1959, Abu Mazen was a prominent member in the newly established Fatah terror organization in Kuwait, which was the safe haven for Arafat, Abu Mazen, Abu Ala' and their colleagues, who had to flee Egypt for subversive activities.
In 1970, Abu Mazen played a central role in the attempted PLO coup against King Hussein, and during the 1970s he was a member of the PLO leadership, which fueled a series of civil wars in Lebanon and tried to topple the Beirut regime.
Since 1993, Abu Mazen has been the second most important Palestinian, forging the nature of the Palestinian society in general and its hate-education in particular (in PA schools and kindergartens, mosques and media), which has served as the manufacturing-line of Palestinian homicide bombers.

Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi (سيد أبو الأعلى المودودي, alternative spelling Syed Maudoodi; often referred to as Maulana Maududi) (1903-1979) was one of the most influential islamic scholars of the 20th century and the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami (Islamic Party),.
Secular and Muslim critics say that Maududi's political theory, like that of Sayyid Qutb in Egypt, is more influenced by Stalin or Mussolini than by the Qur'an and Hadith and the example of seventh-century Madina, while the majority of Muslims regard this view as completely borne out of ignorance and a hatred of Islam.
Maulana Abul Ala Maudoodi, the Amir (Head) of Jamaati Islami, devoted himself to the study of theology in 1927.

When Abu Mazen was elected prime minister, Sharon and his men also showered him with promises and declared they would take his plight into consideration.
Therefore, when Sharon sings the praises of Abu Ala and creates a media flurry intended to plant the impression that there is a real change in Israeli policy toward the Palestinian Authority, a reminder is required - Sharon must be judged by his actions, not his words.

DEBKAfile - Abu Ala Tells Arafat: Enough Is Enough
Abu Ala accused Arafat of exploiting the attention focused on fruitless discussions about a truce for an underhand move to help himself to the PA’s funds and whisk its financial system out of the hands of the pro-American Palestinian finance minister, Salem Fayed.
Those reforms, instituted by the Bush Administration, the Abu Mazen government and Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, were designed to block the flow of PA funds for terrorist use.
The PA’s straitened finances were not Abu Ala’s only motive for threatening to resign – nor even Arafat’s control of Palestinian security forces and negotiating tactics, which made his job as prime minister no better than a sinecure.

By Sunday, Ahmed Qureia (nom de guerre: Abu Ala) was appointed, also by Yasser Arafat, as the new PA prime minister.
In other words, Abu Ala is not an elected representative of anyone, he's an Arafat appointee and loyalist, and a long-time central PLO figure, whose major decisions will be subject to Yasser Arafat's veto.
As he had repeated several times since his appointment, on September 4, just prior to his resignation, Abu Mazen stated: Arafat is "the elected, legitimate, constitutional and historical president of the Palestinian people." In late July, the then-PA prime minister elucidated this point in an interview with Newsweek magazine senior editor Lally Weymouth.
