Very little is known about Abu Kamil's life - perhaps even this is an exaggeration and it would be more honest to say that we have no biographical details at all except that he came from Egypt and we know his dates with a fair degree of certainty.
There is certainly no doubt that Abu Kamil considered that he was building on the foundations of algebra as set up by al-Khwarizmi and indeed he forms an important link in the development of algebra between al-Khwarizmi and al-Karaji.
Abu Kamil also gives rules to calculate the volume and surface area of various solids such as rectangular parallelepipeds, right circular prisms, square pyramids, and circular cones.

Abu Nasr Mansur ibn Ali ibn Iraq (970-1036) applied spherical geometry to astronomy and also used formulas involving sine and tangent.
Persian mathematician Abu Sahl Waijan ibn Rustam al-Quhi (10th century), also known as Abu Sahl al-Kuhi or just Kuhi, was a leading figure in a revival and continuation of Greek higher geometry in the Islamic world.

Abu Kamil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Abu Kamil Shuja ibn Aslam ibn Muhammad ibn Shuja (c.850-930), or just Abu Kamil (Arabic: ابو كامل) for short, was a mathematician who lived in Egypt during the Islamic Golden Age.
Unlike the many polymaths of this era—notably al-Khwarizmi, al-Kindi, Ibn Sina (Avicenna in the West), and Ibn Rushd (Averroes)—Abu Kamil was a specialist.

Kamil moved to Egypt in 1956 as the young bride of an Egyptian Copt at the precise moment most foreign residents were leaving the country.
Intellectually Kamil says that she is indebted to Egypt -- to her late husband, his family and the group of Egyptologists she befriended in Egypt.
Kamil was terribly excited about the work of Egypt's well-known restorer of antiquities, Hag Ahmed Youssef, and his assembling the funerary barge of the Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu discovered by Kamal Mallakh in 1954.
