 Composite State Board of Medical Examiners: Rules Changes
Medical schools in the United States and Canada must require a minimum of two years of pre-medical training and be approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
Evidence of graduation from a medical school that requires a minimum of two (2) years of pre-medical training and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Temporary licenses may be issued to an applicant at the discretion of the Executive Director, with the approval of the President of the Board.

 Save the Match News Press Releases NRMP Requires Medical Residency Programs to Show Contracts to Applicants
Link its Web site to that of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to better inform applicants about the accreditation status of residency programs.
The American Medical Student Association also had strongly supported the change and urged the NRMP board to vote for the requirement.

The purpose of ECFMG certification is to assess the readiness of graduates of foreign medical schools to enter U.S. residency and fellowship programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
However, since one of the requirements for ECFMG certification is that your medical diploma be independently verified by your medical school to ECFMG, you cannot complete the certification process until you graduate and receive your diploma.
To be certified by ECFMG, you must pass a series of exams; you must also provide ECFMG with copies of your medical diploma, which ECFMG will verify directly with your medical school (see Requirements for Certification at left).
