Topic: Accuracy dispute

  Accuracy dispute - Uncyclopedia
When there is an accuracy dispute, the accuracy is disputed.
If everyone thinks something is inaccurate, then the accuracy is not disputed because it is agreed upon that it's not accurate; there is no dispute.
So if there is no dispute when an article is inaccurate, that logically means that when there is a disputer, the article is accurate.

Wikipedia:Accuracy dispute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is a dispute as to whether a fan created website can be used as an authorative source and can actually be cited and have much of its information used as basis for the article.
If this dispute is steadfastly removed as many other reasonable attempts at editing the article, without responding to any discussion, I would go so far as to say the article still has NPOV issues.
An accuracy dispute has erupted over this article, after one editor used a single reference to claim that the victim of (fatal) agression was actually the culprit himself.

LAWDOG Credit Reporting: FTC Official Staff Commentary-Sec. 611
In reinvestigating and attempting to verify a disputed credit transaction, a consumer reporting agency may rely on the accuracy of a creditor's ledger sheets and need not require the creditor to produce documentation such as the actual signed sales slips.
Although a consumer reporting agency is not required to accept a consumer dispute statement that does not challenge the accuracy or completeness of an item in the consumer's file, it may accept such a statement and may charge a fee for doing so.
On the other hand, where the dispute is more complicated than normal (e.g., the consumer alleges in good faith that a creditor has falsified its report of the consumer's account history because of a personal grudge), the "reasonable time'' needed to conduct the reinvestigation may be longer.

If the disputed item of information is found to be inaccurate, missing, or can no longer be verified by the evidence submitted, the consumer credit reporting agency shall promptly add, correct, or delete that information from the consumer's file.
If the consumer credit reporting agency determines that the dispute is frivolous or irrelevant, or if the reinvestigation does not resolve the dispute, or if the information is reinserted into the consumer's file pursuant to subdivision (c), the consumer may file a brief statement setting forth the nature of the dispute.
Whenever a statement of dispute is filed, the consumer credit reporting agency shall, in any subsequent consumer credit report containing the information in question, clearly note that the information is disputed by the consumer and shall include in the report either the consumer's statement or a clear and accurate summary thereof.

Wikibooks:NPOV dispute - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks
Probably the only grounds on which there could be an NPOV dispute over an module that actually was acceptable NPOV is when one or both of the parties to the dispute did not understand either the NPOV policy, or enough about the subject matter to realize that nothing controversial had actually been said.
Everyone can agree that marking an module as having an NPOV dispute is a temporary measure, and should be followed up by actual contributions to the module in order to put it in such a state that people agree that it has a NPOV.
The vast majority of disputes over whether something is NPOV are due to a simple confusion: one party believes "X" to be a fact, and--this part is mistaken--that if a claim is factual, it is therefore neutral.

 Fixing the Credit Reporting System

How to Fix Bad Credit on Your Credit Report - part 2
If you, as a credit consumer, dispute the accuracy of certain information in your credit report and it is verified by the creditor as correct, then the credit bureau is required to include your explanation of your dispute, if you request, in your credit report.
If you have received no answer to your dispute after 30 to 37 days, attack the credit bureau with a certified return receipt letter, for an updated credit report demanding the disputed items be deleted.
The reason these items are easier to remove is simple; when you dispute an older account or an item that is now charged off, the creditor is not too concerned with the account any more.

 FRB: Testimony, Smith--National credit reporting system--July 29, 2003
Consumers also have the right to dispute the accuracy or completeness of any information in their consumer reports with a consumer reporting agency, to have such information deleted or corrected, and to have a statement of dispute included in the report if the dispute is not resolved.
Four particular areas of concern with regard to consumer report accuracy include: (1) the failure to report credit limits; (2) the failure to report updated information on accounts; (3) the failure to report non-derogatory accounts or minor delinquencies; and (4) the inconsistent reporting of public record data, collection agency data, and inquiries.
Concerns about the accuracy of consumer reports can be alleviated to some extent through consumer education, such as efforts to encourage consumers to check their consumer reports periodically.

In our opinion, accuracy in criminal records and insurance claims reports are not issues that can be addressed in the same context as federally regulated financial institutions.
Even after national standards are adopted, it is clear that the same procedures for accuracy and dispute resolution applied to credit reports cannot apply to insurance claims reports.
However, it is not realistic to proceed under the assumption that a uniform procedure for accuracy and disputes can be adopted to fit all furnishers.
