Acer, the world's fourth-biggest computer retailer, said its revenue rose 47 percent during the third quarter as it narrowed the gap in global PC market share between itself and China's Lenovo Group.
Acer's revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 rose to NT$82.5 billion (US$2.5 billion as of the end of the period reported), from NT$56.1 billion during the same quarter a year ago, the company said.
Acer should be able to continue to grow at a fast clip as it focuses on two markets, the U.S. and China, where it has not done well in the past, said J.T. Wang, the company's chairman.

Acer also showed off a few upgrades to models launched earlier this year, such as a TravelMate 8100 with a metal cover, 360-degree infrared capabilities, 2GB of RAM and a more powerful microprocessor, an Intel Pentium M running at 1.73GHz.
