Topic: Acerenza

  The Archdiocese of Acerenza
Acerenza was certainly an episcopal see in the course of the fifth century, for in 499 we meet with the name of its first known bishop, Justus, in the Acts of the Roman Synod of that year.
Acerenza was in early imperial times a populous and important town, and a bulwark of the territory of Lucania and Apulia.
An Archbishop of Acerenza (Giraldus) appears in 1063 in an act of donation of Robert Guiscard to the monastery of the Holy Trinity in Venosa.

Born and raised in Potenza, in southern Italy, Professor Acerenza developed an interest in Quebec while he was still in primary school.
Care is taken not to stigmatize the man on the street nor marginalize their speech, as though assigning it to a particular economic or social group.
Acerenza studied the Radio-Canada program "Capsules linguistiques" and discovered that one battle is against French words used with English syntax, for example 'Je vais prendre une marche' which would be corrected to 'Je fais une promenade'(I'm going for a walk).

Elbrick - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Donna Francesca, Duchesa di Acerenza (Duchess of Acerenza) is the elder daughter of Don Angelo Gennaro Granito Pignatelli, Principe di Belmonte and Donna Sarah Elizabeth Granito Pignatelli, Principessa di Belmonte.
Titles in the possession of, but junior to, Belmonte, are used in the manner of courtesy titles for the first direct male heir to the succession (and eldest female heir on reaching her majority in the absence of direct male heirs).
The heir to the Prince Belmonte is therefore known as the Duke or Duchess of Acerenza, the next in line is known as the Marquess or Marchioness of Galatone, and the next in line, in turn, is known as the Count or Countess of Copertino.

If reading a dictionary ever struck you as dull, it couldn't be further from the truth for Gerardo Acerenza of the department of French and Italian at St. Jerome's University.
Acerenza studied the Radio-Canada program "Capsules linguistiques" and discovered that one battle is against French words used with English syntax, for example 'Je vais prendre une marche' which would be corrected to 'Je fais une promenade' (I'm going for a walk).
The influence of French dictionaries in French Canadian writing will be fully explored in the conference Acerenza is organizing for November 11-13.

It's worth the effort for the grand panorama and its famous Cattedrale (daily 9.30am-12.30pm and 4-7pm), from which it is thought the name of Basilicata derives (it was the bishop of this basilica who exercised jurisdiction over the territory around).
Inside, its crypt is a rare example of the impact of the Renaissance in Basilicata.
