After independence and the death of Mahatma Gandhi; JP, Acharya Narendra Dev and Basawon Singh (Sinha) led the CSP out of Congress to become the opposition Socialist Party, which later took the name Praja Socialist Party.

Even the most prominent egalitarians in India like Jaiprakash Narayan, Acharya Narendra Deva, Acharya Kriplani, and communist theoreticians would never have approved of social justice as championed by the like of Kumar; for, in Kumar’s scheme of things, social justice is reduced to reservations and that too caste-based reservations.

THE first major book of the national movement, Dadabhai Naoroji's "poverty and un-British rule in India," pinpointed the drain of wealth from India to Britain arising out of British rule as being chiefly responsible for India's poverty.
Starting from this, the nationalists from R. Dutt, Ranade, and G.S.Iyer to Jawaharlal Nehru and Acharya Narendra Deva, showed how it was British rule and policies which retarded India's development.
On the basis of this understanding the nationalist leaders, especially of a later era, went out to work among the peasants, workers, middle classes and other sections of the Indian people to mobilize them to fight British rule.
