Although Principe island  is more related faunistically to Bioko having a certain amount of species in common it has a high degree of endemism, a sample are the three different species of the much sought after genus Columna: columna, leai and hainesi strange sinistral members of the family Achatinidae.
The truth is that this tiny and sinistral snail has developped a kind of “fake-trapdoor” that is attached to the shell on one side  by a thin layer of periostracum, not being a prosobranch it is a survival strategy not found in any other group of pulmonates.
