		Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it will be the rarest of beers.
		The Saint Benedictus Abbey of Achel is the first monastery to take up brewing in Belgium since 1931, and is one of only six Trappist breweries now operating there.
		Since 1999, Achel has offered two splendid draught beers — Achel 5° and Achel 6° — which are available only at the pub on the grounds of the Abbey.

		The church, badly damaged, was used as a barn and its grounds were used to beat the grains… Only two of the four wings of the old building remained – and even these were in ruins… As for the grounds of culture, they were in the worst condition.

		The Koninklijke Fanfare Kempenbloei is a traditonal belgian style "fanfare band" from Achel, a small town with 5000 inhabitants in the North-East of Belgium, near the Dutch border.
		Besides the fanfare band, the society also consists of a a drum band or "percussion ensemble", a twirling group (called 'The Starlights'), a youth fanfare band and a youth drum band.
		One of the most important things for the band is to support the social life in the village.

		In the April/May edition of PINT (a Dutch beer magazine), it was announced that a new Trappist brewery had been opened in Achel, a small town in the northern part of Belgium bordering the Netherlands.

		Everytime I taste recent Achel beers, there's that presence of that subtile acetic acid backtaste.
