We had Timberwolf tracks where Achtmaal was mentioned and we found a volume of the Monthly Operations Reports of the 415th Infantry Regiment but it started in November 1944 so Achtmaal wasn't in there as the archives had had a fire and the part about October was lost.
It was necessary for the men to wade through water up to their armpits in bringing up ammunition and evacuating wounded, with the Battalion receiving fire from well-emplaced machine guns, riflemen, and machine pistol artists hidden in buildings.
On October 27, 1944 1 entered the town of Achtenwaal (Achtmaal) with the advance guard of the 3d Battalion of the 415th Infantry (Regiment).

KDE members associated with the desktop environment's major multimedia components and marketing efforts met last weekend in Achtmaal, The Netherlands, at the KDE 4 Multimedia Meeting (K4M, previously known as K3M).
The weather in Achtmaal was unfortunately rainy over the weekend, so most attendees chose to stay inside the Annahoeve hotel.
The meeting, one of a series of KDE subproject meetings designed to accelerate the version 4 development process, was sponsored by KDE supporters such as Novell and Trolltech, and attended by about 20 representatives from the KDE Multimedia team (consisting chiefly of amaroK and Phonon developers), the KDE marketing team, and Open Usability.

We now know that the 104th Timberwolf Division during the liberation of Achtmaal and Zundert was attached to the British 147th Regiment Royal Armored Core.
We would like to know more about the way they where dressed and all the other details we can get, so if anyone can help us here, we would be very pleased.
When Achtmaal was liberated and the soldiers moved on, someone found them in a foxhole, took them home and they where now given to us.

It's easy to forget (for me, anyway) that Brazil is a long way from Kansas and even further from Achtmaal.
While KDE Multimedia was improving in Achtmaal, Amiel apparently started on past tense formation (I think he says "dicht (ge)maakt" and "dicht maken" in different circumstances, but that may be a parent's jaundiced ear hearing it).
Fortunately here in Achtmaal there's more 'how about..' than 'you should..' On the 'you should port to Qt4' Gábor has done a great job and produced a Qt4 port of amaroK that integrates nearly perfectly into the KDE4 desktop I posted yesterday.

Thanks go to Dirk Mueller, Stephan Kulow, and the rest of the crew for increasing the robustness of our desktop.
The KDE Multimedia Meeting in Achtmaal, Netherlands, kicks off with 18 key people from across the KDE multimedia spectrum, including Matthias Kretz, the lead developer of Phonon, and several amaroK people hacking away.
Already reported achievements include the big startup optimisations and the start of a KDE 4 port for amaroK, and, teaming up with the usability experts at the meeting, interface experiments for the next major version of the software.
