Commonly, the origination of acid house is attributed to Phuture's DJ Pierre (and Ron Hardy who played the tracks at Chicago Club, the Music Box) who was messing around with the Roland TB303 and liked the acid sound.
With the release of Phuture's Acid Trax in 1986, a new style of house was coming into play and the link between the music and the club drug (Ecstasy) brought this new style of house even more attention, especially in the UK, where the scene was subjected to a mass media assault.
Acid is a derivative of the old style Acid House.
