The Grade 1, $500,000 Woodward, one of the mainstays of Belmont Park’s Fall Championship Meet, will be run at Saratoga Race Course in one of the more significant changes in the New York Racing Association’s 2006 stakes schedule, which was approved Wednesday at the monthly meeting of NYRA’s Board of Trustees.
For handicap horses, the summer/fall schedule from Saratoga through Belmont Park’s Fall Championship Meet would include the Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney at nine furlongs on August 5th and the Woodward on September 2nd at Saratoga; and Belmont Park’s Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at 10 furlongs on October 7th.
