Acres Homes, is a wooded urban/inner-city community in northwest Houston, Texas.
It is represented by Houston City Council Districts A and B. Some areas outside of the city limits that are still considered to be "Acres Homes" are within the Klein Independent School District.
The area is served by the Acres Homes Branch of the Houston Public Library.

The Acres Homes Transit Company, a small suburban transportation organization established in 1959, operated in response to the need for public commuter services in the predominantly African-American community of Acres Homes, nine miles northwest of downtown Houston.
Acres Homes was outside of the city limits until the late 1960s, when it was annexed to Houston.
In Acres Homes these operators were usually residents of the community and went about their daily routine in open violation of municipal transportation codes.

We all know Acres Homes (or the fo-fo) is probably the roughest collection of neighborhoods in the city.
Since Acres Homes is bisected by Montgomery Road and Shepherd Drive, two streets with marginal economic activity, why not extend freeway lanes of 249 down W. Montgomery to Shepherd Drive to meet with 610 at the Shepherd Durham split.
In the book Houston Freeways, one of the main proponents of the 225 fwy., that was proposed to run through the East End, argued that putting the freeway through there would improve the area and open it up for development.
