Some acrylic solutions have been used as protective coatings and binders for paint, differing most obviously from the acrylic emulsion paint binders in that they cannot be mixed or thinned with water but require a solvent such as turpentine or mineral spirits.
The resin, furnished as a granular white solid resembling lump sugar or dry snow, can be dissolved in turpentine or a mineral solvent in the proportion of 5 pounds of resin to a gallon of solvent to make a heavy crystal-clear syrup.
As is the case with other synthetic resin paints, there is a tendency for acrylic solution paints to be less buttery and to have a flow and brushing quality well differentiated from that of oil paint.

Acrylic resins as binders for gravure printing inks - Patent 6020401
The gravure printing ink of claim 1 wherein the alkyl or cycloalkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid (b) is a member selected from the group consisting of butyl acrylate, butyl methacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, isobornyl methacrylate, isodecyl methacrylate, and combinations thereof.
Metal resinates are widely used as binders in gravure printing due to their rapid solvent release and their ability to prevent some basic pigments from livering.
Pressure in the solvent flash vessel was atmospheric, and the resin pump was employed to discharge the resin continuously.

Case report - Hypersensitivity to denture materials   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Although no definite hypersensitivity to acrylic per se appears to have been identified at this time, it was decided to provide her with vulcanite dentures, with which she appeared to cope very well for a number of years.
This raised the question as to whether she might be having a reaction to the dyestuffs in the denture resins, as colour was a common factor in the denture materials used, which were otherwise of a very different composition.
However, the reaction achieved to the pure dye samples and the lack of reaction to the clear acrylic dentures is strongly suggestive of the fact that the reactions experienced by this patient to some denture resins is the result of the incorporated colouring agents.

 GMA Powder Coating Chemistry
Since GMA acrylic powder resins are epoxy functional, any curing mechanism for epoxy resins will also function with GMA resins.
At this time the preferred curative for GMA acrylic powder resins is dodecanedioic acid (DDDA) due to its combination of favorable melting point, cure rate and viscosity reduction.
Apart from their positive qualities GMA powder coatings are known for a tendency to give brittlle coatings, to cause craters in other powder chemistries, to have limited pigmentability and to be difficult to matt.
