		Actraiser is an interesting mix of genres that managed to work really well.
		Rather than just being a platformer or just being a strategy game or just being a role playing game it instead mixed elements of all 3 to create a game which, while not perfect in any one single element, was a great mixture of all 3 and overall a fairly unique and fun game.
		On their own each of the sections is nothing special, feeling like a poorly done version of other games such as Castlevania or Populous, together however they create a unique game that keeps you entertained.

		ActRaiser was one of the handful of launch titles for the Super Nintendo console back in September of 1991.
		The story behind ActRaiser is an interesting one: Tanzra (the big bad guy, for lack of a better term) has unleashed monsters across your world, and it’s up to you, as the planet’s deity, to rid the world of the monsters and bring civilization, peace, and harmony back to the planet.
		ActRaiser 2 went on to eliminate the sim sequences and really turned up the difficulty factor, which made the game one of the most difficult SNES games on record.

		Since ActRaiser is a retelling of the creation of earth, many of the environments are based on real places and their associated mythology.
		The graphics are good, and the animation was improved over the first ActRaiser, but the music is a step down (despite being done by the same composer.) The story pulls a "Star Fox 64" in that it's not consistent with the original game's story, and in fact, seems a "retcon" or "retelling".

		In the end, the mobile manifestation of Actraiser is but a pale shadow of its former glory.

		ActRaiser deserved the recognition it needed to carry it to lofty heights.
		You press the B button to bring up a menu, which is your command database; send in thunderstorms, building directions, etc. As Cupid you attack the overhead monsters (usually flying monsters) using a bow and arrow, and you can periodically upgrade your weapon based on offerings from the townspeople.
		ActRaiser employed such a novel and innovative idea at the time, and it is a once in a lifetime experience in which the formula could never be duplicated just as great.

		In ActRaiser, you weren't just a guy with a sword fighting for good; you were literally a god tasked with first cleansing a land despoiled by evil and then guiding your people in rebuilding it.
		ActRaiser was unique in its day for marrying action and strategy so seamlessly.
		The action stages could have made a fun enough game on their own, but the surprisingly deep and satisfying world-building segments (with the goofy little angel avatar) were the real highlight for me. You could actually get a sense you were helping these people live better lives, and it all seemed really heartfelt and genuine.

	Game of the Month 10/02: ActRaiser
		ActRaiser was one of the first games ever released for the SNES and it still remains one of my favorites even today.
		I think ActRaiser is a great game, but it's ease of difficulty keeps it from being a true masterpiece.
		Be aware that it's not a true RPG and the action sequences won't exactly push your skills to the limit, but it's a fun, fast, and fantastic adventure while it lasts.
