Action Française - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In spite of the Action Française's support for Roman Catholicism as state religion and the fact that the vast majority of its members were practising Catholics (indeed, they included significant numbers of clergy), some Catholics regarded it with distrust.
The Action Française was re-formed by Maurice Pujo in 1947 around the magazine Aspects de la France and the movement la Restauration Nationale.
The movement still exists as the monarchist and anti- European Union Centre royaliste d'Action Française and publishes a magazine Action Française 2000.

 Action Française
Always anti- German even when defeat placed the friendly Philippe Pétain in charge of Vichy France (an event that Maurras greeted as "divine surprise") Action Française spent a large of time both before and after the First World War warning of the German threat particularly the prominent historian and Action Francaise supporter Bainville.
Until its dissolution at the end the Second World War the Action Française was a prominent of integral nationalism which regarded the nation as an entity of blood and soil.

Italy, Great Britain and France in the twenties
Action Française was a movement that first appeared in the late 19th century.
Some of Action Française's 200,000 supporters in the early 1920s were school teachers, librarians, traveling salesmen, white collar workers, and civil servants, some of whom felt that they were being held back because of their sympathies for monarchy and for the Church.
People belonging to Action Française were for a unified and exalted France, which they believed could be accomplished by recognizing France as a Catholic nation.

 Charles Maurras, Bruno Goyet (2000)
In France, these interpretations of Maurras, which as the book titles suggest, retain the asymmetrical linkage between Maurras the man and Action Française the movement (that is, they define Maurras in purely political terms, and subordinate "tous les autres aspects de sa vie, littérature et philosophie, poésie et doctrine politique" [p.118] to this).
This was a period that culminated with the publication of two major American studies of Maurras the politician: the first by Eugen Weber ( Action Française: royalism and reaction in 20th century France (1962)); the second by Edward Tannenbaum ( The Action Française: die-hard reactionaries in 20th century France (1962)).
He also points out that the papal condemnation of 1926 was directed against his writings, and not his political action.
