 CULG - District Line
Initially services ran from the latter station through to Hounslow, South Harrow, and sometimes Uxbridge, but from 1932-02-15 they were reduced to a shuttle between the two stations (known as the "There and back while the kettle boils" because of the short distance and quick turnaround at South Acton) and the branch is now closed.
Upminster Depot is east of Upminster station, while Ealing Common Depot is north of the line between Acton Town and Ealing Common stations; trains may enter from the west end, and may leave in either direction.

Line facts - Transport for London
The name Central London Railway was used in 1872-3 for an unsuccessful north-south promotion sponsored by the Midland Railway and the South Eastern Railway, for a link between St Pancras and Charing Cross Stations.
At the new Greenford station, the entrance hall was at ground level but the railway was on a viaduct, and thus became the first, and only, station on the London Underground to have escalators leading from street level UP to the trains.
Time occupied in construction far exceeded the original estimate, and work was temporarily abandoned because of contractual problems with the Great Eastern Railway and the North London Railway arising from the siting of the underground station beneath their termini at Liverpool Street and Broad Street.

Croxley Metropolitan Line station and Watford West station on Railtrack's disused Croxley Green branch would be connected by a short stretch of new track passing to the north of the disused Croxley Green station.
However, the Piccadilly Line is on a slope and Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate won't allow new platforms to be built on a slope.

The Richmond branch of the District Line and the West Ruislip branch of the Central Line can be merged (by forming a new Line, perhaps 'The West London Line') at North Acton and then running on Network Rail tracks stopping at Acton Central and South Acton stations.
The route: Bank - Waterloo- West Brompton - Hammersmith - Acton Town, then all stations to Heathrow Terminal 4 (or 5).
The line between South Acton and the junction near North Acton may have to be shared with crossrail, or separate tracks built, if the branch to hounslow via south acton and ilseworth is built.
