Ad hoc protocol list - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An Ad hoc protocol is a convention or standard that controls how nodes come to agree which way route packets between computing devices in a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET).
In ad hoc network nodes do not have a priori knowledge of topology of network around them, they have to discover it.
Note that in a wider context, an ad hoc protocol can also mean an improvised and often impromptu protocol established for a particular specific purpose.

Abstract The Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is intended for use by mobile nodes in an ad hoc network.
Therefore, depending upon the local traffic in the network and whether congestion is being experienced, the node MAY elect to proactively repair the routes before a data packet is received; otherwise, it can wait until a data is received, and then commence the repair of the route.
However, if the mobile nodes in the ad hoc network have pre-established security associations, it is presumed that the purposes for which the security associations are created include that of authorizing the processing of AODV control messages.

The vision of mobile ad hoc networking is to support robust and efficient operation in mobile wireless networks by incorporating routing functionality into mobile nodes.
In contrast, the goal of mobile ad hoc networking is to extend mobility into the realm of autonomous, mobile, wireless domains, where a set of nodes--which may be combined routers and hosts--themselves form the network routing infrastructure in an ad hoc fashion.

Ad hoc body to Lepanto: Rehire dismissed workers
BAGUIO CITY -- The ad hoc committee tasked to recommend solutions on the two-month labor dispute at Lepanto Mining has asked the management to rehire all the dismissed employees, including the 19 union officers, to finally end the strike.
The ad hoc committee added the current situation in the mine site manifests that the absence of a settlement or solution to the problem would only cause heavy losses to the company and loss of employment to the workers.

This paper presents Span, a power saving technique for multi-hop ad hoc wireless networks that reduces energy consumption without significantly diminishing the capacity or connectivity of the network.
Span builds on the observation that when a region of a shared-channel wireless network has a sufficient density of nodes, only a small number of them need be on at any time to forward traffic for active connections.
For example, our simulations show that with a practical energy model, system lifetime of an 802.11 network in power saving mode with Span is a factor of two better than without.
