Ada County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho.
It is named for Ada Riggs, the first pioneer child born in the area and the daughter of H.C. Riggs, a cofounder of Boise.
In the county the population was spread out with 27.30% under the age of 18, 10.30% from 18 to 24, 32.50% from 25 to 44, 20.80% from 45 to 64, and 9.10% who were 65 years of age or older.

In 1994, the county developed a plan to include a new consolidated courthouse and administration building inside a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly mall concept in order to maximize the commercial value of the site and generate revenue to help offset much of the cost of the county building.
That facility is currently used by departments of the Ada County Sheriff's Office and the juvenile courts.
The financing mechanism is complicated, but the county is never obligated for more than one year at a time.
