It extends for 51.000 hectares (510 Kmq), from the Tonale Pass to that of Crocedomini; to east, its territory ends where Lombardia Region borders Trentino Region; westwards, its boundary is formed by the upper left side of the Oglio, the fifth longest italian river.
The Adamello Group, place of the largest glacier in Italy (a surface of about 18km2 according to current calculations), offers an aureole conformation, therefore from the central glaciers of the culminating plateau start mountainous crests and chains which, in their turn, are integrated in the subgroups of the Baitone, Frisozzo and Blumone.
For an excursion in the high mountain territories, it is useful to be prepared with heavy clothes in case of unexpected bad weather (heavy boots, woolen pullover, topographical map and compass).

 L'Educazione Ambientale - Parco dell'Adamello
The Parco Adamello developed, in strict relationship with the local delegates of the Provveditorato agli studi of Brescia and the teaching body of the Valle Camonica, a Project of environmental education that involves the main agencies of the Valle Camonica specialized in the didactic sector regarding environment.
At the environmental education centers of the Parco Adamello, the project foresees the creation of a services network (laboratories, libraries, video libraries, socialization activities, didactic and playing classes) that will be made available to children, teenagers and schools of the Valle Camonica.
The initiatives were publically presented during an event promoted by the Parco Adamello in occasion of the world parks day, with numerous children and their families present.

The whole glacial area of the Adamello range covers approximately 42 square kilometers of which the Mandrone glacier is the largest italian glacier (18 sqkms).
The central base in the Adamello area is the Lobbia Alta hut (3040m) whereas the Presanella is climbed from the Denza hut (2298m) which is reached from the Tonale pass.

The field campaigns concerned the acquisition of radiometric measurements, spectral signature acquisition and photometric measurements, and the characterization of glacier and snow properties, snow testing and digital photos taken in situ and made by helicopter.
ADAMELLO GROUP (Lombardia and Trentino Regions) includes about 80 glaciers with different extension (from less than 1 Km2 to 18 Km2 of the Adamello glacier), exposure and morphology.
The survey period were chosen at the end of the ablation season (from the first half of August to the end of September) in order to asses the state of the glacier in correspondence to the ETM+ passages (Tab.1).

The Adamello granite range, including the peaks of Presanella (3,558 m) and Carè Alto (3,453 m), is rich in glaciers, alpine lakes and torrents forming some very beautiful waterfalls.
The Adamello -Brenta Natural Park houses the last native specimen of the Alpine brown bear, which witnesses the presence of a sound, wild environment.
In order to prevent the extinction of the bear, a project is in place to foster the increase of the population through the introduction of Slovene specimen.

Hier ontmoeten de Centrale Alpen, waarvan de Adamello het meest oostelijke deel is, de Dolomieten, waarvan de Brenta het meest westelijke massief is. Op dit snijvlak loopt de grote Alpine Giudicarie-breuk, die oorzaak is van het grote verschil tussen deze twee gebieden.
Kamperen is toegestaan in een groot deel van de Adamello, daarnaast zijn er veel officiële campings.

The richness and variety of vegetation and flowers in Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta can only be found in a few other areas of the Alpine chain.
The presence of two sections with different geological features (calcareous and sedimentary rocks in Gruppo di Brenta and intrusive-crystal-like rocks in Adamello-Presanella) has favored the natural development of endemic species and specific flowers: this is particularly evident in the vegetational stirps above the tree edge.
It is exactly in these areas that Provincia autonoma di Trento, according to the rules entitled to it as local authority with special statute and making real the establishment of the Nature Park for the first time in Italy, created in 1967 the two provincial parks of Adamello Brenta and Paneveggio-Pale di S.Martino.

Immediately after hostilities began, the Italian Army made a concerted effort to occupy the three peaks of the Adamello Massif in the far westerly sector of the war zone.
In April 1916, Alpini ski troops under Capt. Nino Calvi of the 5th Division successfully assaulted Austro-Hungarian strong points at Monte Fum and Lobbia Alta. On the 20th of the month, in a fierce battle that required extensive mountain climbing, his troops captured the remaining peaks giving Italy complete control of the massif.
For the entire war, the Adamello would provide them a secure anchor on the left of their frontline.
