The plane of the lunar Orbit maintains an inclination of 5.145 396° with respect to the ecliptic (the orbital plane of the Earth), and the lunar axis of rotation maintains an inclination of 1.5424° with respect to the normal to that same plane.
This crater is located on the far side, near the south pole, and is some 2,240 km in diameter, and 13 km in depth.
Lunar Prospector results, however, indicate the Presence of hydrogen in the permanently shadowed regions, which could be in the form of water ice.

ADAMS, JOHN C. John Couch Adams (1819-1892) was an English astronomer and mathematician who, at 24 years old, predicted the existence of the planet Neptune (Le Verrier also predicted its existence, independently).
Apollo 11's LEM or LM (Lunar Excursion Module or Lunar Module, dubbed the Eagle) separated from the orbiter and landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
A lunar crater was named for Aristarchus (pictured above); it is located on the NW edge of the Oceanus Procellarum.

The French mathematician Urbain Le Verrier, co-predictor with J.C. Adams of the position of Neptune before it was seen, in an 1860 lecture announced that the problem of observed deviations of the motion of Mercury could be solved by assuming a planet or a second asteroid belt inside Mercury's orbit.
An impact 65 million years ago by an object of 5--10 km in diameter is thought to have been partially or fully responsible for the extinction of half the living species of animals and plants at the time, including the dinosaurs.
The crater alone from such an impact will be 10--15 times larger than the object itself.
