Adams County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio.
In the county the population is spread out with 26.40% under the age of 18, 8.70% from 18 to 24, 28.20% from 25 to 44, 23.40% from 45 to 64, and 13.30% who are 65 years of age or older.
County coroner: Determines causes of death in certain cases; is the only person with the power to arrest the sheriff.

The county seat is situated on the Ohio River 100 miles south of Columbus and 50 miles from Cincinnati.
The most significant feature of the county is the giant earth mound in the form of a serpent located in the Serpent Mound State Memorial claimed as the largest effigy mound in the world, the 1,254 foot structure was constructed by the Hopewell Indians.
