		Adams discovered that inventors of machines or devices of high energy efficiency capability ("Free" Energy) are not only refused patents, but that in most cases, their inventions are classified under the "Military Use Clause", which is, of course, international.

		Efficiency in the Adams Motor is measured by comparing the terminal voltage of one set of batteries powering the motor with the terminal voltage of another set being charged by the generator (integral, by design).
		The very small motors that Dr Adams originally built were capable of masking the normal voltage decrease of the supply batteries and making them appear to hold their energy level.
		Whether an Adams motor can usefully run for extended periods of time remains to be proven, most especially since rumors that the motor cores go 'off' with prolonged usage persist.

		Having regard to this and the developing research interest in the feasibility of the N-machine, this author did wonder whether the Adams machine could possibly be sensitive to orientation and this was before hearing from him on the 16th October 1993 that someone had actually discovered that relocation of an Adams-type motor altered operational efficiency.
		Indeed, in wondering how to propose to Robert Adams how the properties of his machine might be researched and lead to something patentable, the author took the bold step of gambling on filing a U.K. patent application dated July 19th 1993 addressing the solution to this orientation problem in a stationary generator.
		These, therefore, are exciting issues to explore as the Adams motor technology progresses and it is, indeed, quite a coincidence to find that someone somewhere has discovered experimentally an efficiency dependence that bears so closely upon the conjecture suggested by the author's aether theory.

		It is a simple design using only north poles on a motor and precise timing.
		Adams found that pulsing the coil with one polarity generates power and the coil does not heat up as conventional motors do. Adams also stated that the motor would double in speed and use 1/2 the current when the timing was adjusted properly. The motor to the left is being used to test these statements.
		In this test, the motor is spinning about 30 RPM. I found if I shorted this coil just as the magnet passes, I get a good amount of voltage.

		I am not using batteries, I am only using capacitors (since it is easier to calculate energy, efficiency, etc.) but it may be that the combination of batteries and coils are needed to produce free energy (as Bedini suggests).
		This is an o-scope trace of the voltage on the motor.
		The short curvy section at the front of the pulse is due to the rotor magnets inducing a volage on the drive coil.

		The problem identified by Dr Adams before testing even began was that the stator coils are not made of suitable material and the timing disc is not precisely made.

		This alternator has a permanent magnet rotor and Jones suggested that it could be used, with high efficiency gain and torque performance, by operating it as a motor with the three-phase winding circuit excited so as to promote strong repulsion between the magnet poles and the stator poles after the poles had come into register.
		However, the Jones machine is not one exploiting the advantages of the invention to be described, because it is not strictly a reluctance motor having salient poles on both stator and rotor.
		Accordingly, the Jones machine relies on the electric current excitation of the motor producing a field system which rotates smoothly but has a polarity pattern which is forced by the commutation control to keep behind the rotor poles in asserting a continuous repulsive drive.
